Snoozes on a Saturday

The sky is doused with a Gingham filter
No sun, no rain but plenty of snoozes
Some on the couch, some on the bed
A few after a lunch of chicken and rice
We’ll make some hot chocolate and chamomile tea
Slurp it down and take in the views
Of gleaming tarred roads
Errant pedestrians and sleepy strays
We’ll play some music from days of yore
Where lovers meet in meadows and rough terrains
Standing precariously and joyfully
Disclosing their wishes, hopes and dreams
We’ll nestle on the couch
Head rested on the elbow
While skimming through past year’s bestseller
And while in the midst of some pages and songs
We’ll snooze away into dreamless sleep
With dogeared books and bygone songs for company
