Lapses in Nostalgia

When people ask
If I miss it anymore
I tell them no
They look at me
With bewildered eyes
And gaping mouths
They ask “Why?”
“Because its over”
Is all I can say.

Another person
Somewhere in the world
Once told me
That nostalgia is a terrible thing
It leaves you lying awake
And makes you wear
Rose coloured glasses
While you take a trip
Down the road.

I haven’t worn those glasses
In a long time
Nor do I intend to
Anytime soon
There is no hate or resentment
Or any version of unforgiveness
Apathy or
A certain numbness
A lapse in nostalgia maybe.
