Perhaps

Its 24 degrees outside
Lets go for a swim
Dive deep and compete
Hold our breath and
Do handstands

Perhaps we could
Go to the museum
See some paintings
Sculptures; whole, broken
Bits of clay and mud

Lets hold hands and
Laugh out loud
Till our insides hurt
And our eyes crinkle
Until it decides to rain

When it rains
We’ll go dancing
Do a little twirl
Maybe even the birdie dance
Until dawn

Eggs, bacon and an English muffin
Coffee for you
And tea for me
Newspapers will be read
In quiet, content company

For memories sake
We’ll go to a studio
To get photographs clicked
With peonies in the background
And our arms in embrace

We’ll go back to the airport
For chocolates and souvenirs
For the people we call home
And perhaps
We’ll meet again
